Manipur: Kuki-Zo Council Seeks Political Solution for Autonomy and Separate Administration

The 4-member Kuki-Zo Council delegation submitted a memorandum for Union Home Minister Amit Shah urging the Centre to initiate a political dialogue with the Council.
The Kuki-Zo Council, the highest socio-political platform of the Kuki-Zo communities, has demanded a political solution to their demands for maximum autonomy and separate administration during the meeting the Ministry of Home Affairs delegation in New Delhi today.
In what was their first meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs team represented by Special Advisor, NE AK Mishra and IB Joint Director Rajesh Kumble, the 4-member Kuki-Zo Council delegation led by their chairman Henlianthang Thanglet submitted a memorandum for Union Home Minister Amit Shah urging the Centre to initiate a political dialogue with the Council.
According to Kuki-Zo council sources, the memorandum also sought a political solution to the Kuki-Zo demand for separate administration in Manipur.
The Kuki-Zo Council, with its headquarters in Churachandpur, comprises 14 civil society groups representing the community and the meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs assumed big significance in view of the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur and the Kuki-Zo demand for a separate administration for the areas where they inhabit in Manipur.
