Manipur Govt to allow one time transfer and admission of Class 9-12 students in schools of their preference

Manipur government will allow one time transfer and admission for students studying in Class 9-12 in schools they prefer in wake of several thousands of people displaced due to the recent violent clashes, Education minister Th. Basantakumar said while speaking to the media today in Imphal.
As per the records, 4,747 students are presently displaced. Around 26,000 people are presently taking refuge at relief camps across the state out of which 4,747 are students, the minister said.
In a bid to ensure that students taking refuge in relief camps are not deprived of education and for their overall wellbeing, he announced that the government will start distributing notebooks, pens, pencils, uniforms, sports materials for recreation purposes among others from tomorrow onwards.
After distribution of the materials, coaching type classes will also be conducted in relief camps with the help of volunteer teachers within 2-3 days.
He maintained that the government has started taking steps to ensure wellbeing of the students.
For those who don’t want to go back to their schools or where it is located, they will be allowed transfer and admission in schools of their choice. Free admission in government schools will be provided and for those who want to continue education in the schools they are presently admitted, they can chose distance or online learning as well, for which the government will provide tablets, he added.
Results of the Higher Secondary Exam (HSE) conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) will be declared on May 22 at 3 pm, the Education Minister said.
