Manipur: Forces on high alert along NH-02, NH-37 to ensure supply of essentials

Security convoys are being provided in sensitive stretches to prevent any untoward incident
The Manipur Police is continuing its strict vigil to ensure that there is no law and order situation in the state particularly along the National Highway-02 and National Highway-37. Considered the lifelines of the state, essential items reach the state through these highways which has in the recent past witnessed a series of blockades.
In order to ensure that there is no hindrance for bringing essential items to the state owing to the prevailing situation, security forces are making the best efforts to keep the National Highway-02 and National Highway-37 clear.
Round the clock high alert is being maintained along the two national highways so that there is no blockade or any other incident that might hamper the movement of vehicles.
Information shared by the Manipur Police said, movement of 221 vehicles along NH-37 and 163 vehicles along NH-2 with essential items have been ensured (data as of Thursday).
“Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, ” the Manipur Police said in a post on ‘X.’
As part of the efforts to restore peace and normalcy, the Manipur Police carried out search operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Bishnupur, Thoubal and Churachandpur districts.
The Manipur Police informed that there were reports of protestors taking to the streets in Imphal East, West, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching Districts.
The security forces soon brought the situation under control and disperse the protestors.
A total of 131 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 913 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State.
