Manipur Drug Peddlar Arrested With Yaba Tablets Worth Over Rs 7 Cr in Assam’s Cachar

The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Chungkang Leotang, a resident of Manipur's Tamenglong district.

Continuing its war against drugs, Assam Police on Saturday seized yaba tablets worth Rs 7.20 crore and arrested one drug peddler in connection with the case in Cachar district.

The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Chungkang Leotang, a resident of Manipur’s Tamenglong district.

Based on inputs regarding drug shipment under Jirighat Police Station in Howkip Punji, a team of Cachar Police conducted an operation.

During the operation, police apprehended Leotang with 24,000 yaba tablets, and subsequently arrested him.

Earlier on February 18, a man identified as Rakesh Kumar Sinha (24) was arrested with yaba tablets and heroin with a combined value of around Rs 14 crore on Silchar-Aizawl road at Ramprasadpur in the Dholai area of Cachar.

Police recovered 40,000 Yaba tablets and 23 soap cases containing 260 grams of heroin from his possession.
