Rahul Gandhi, who was passing through Kangpokpi as part of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, decided to make a stop for a tea break at Kim Chow Hotel
Kim, a young lady from Kangpokpi in trouble-torn Manipur who owns a humble roadside hotel, Kim Chow Hotel, was in for a pleasant surprise this morning.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who was passing through Kangpokpi as part of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, decided to make a quick pit stop for a tea break. Little did Kim know that Rahul Gandhi, the Wayanad MP, would choose her hotel for a hot cup of tea.
“I can’t believe that Rahul Sir would enter my hotel and have tea. I feel so happy and blessed. There are lots of good hotels in the town but I got the opportunity to serve him,” an excited Kim said.
Kim’s younger sister added, “When the bus stopped, Rahul Sir asked me whether we have tea. I was so happy, I nodded my head. He called me and enquired about our hotel and wellbeing.”
“I was very nervous when Rahul walked into our hotel. I had seen him on TV, heard his name. Today I saw him in person, that too in our hotel. I am so happy. May God bless him,” a beaming Kim’s mother said.
Left delighted and overwhelmed by Rahul’s visit, Kim is now planning to change the name of her hotel to Rahul Hotel.
After having his cup of tea, Rahul proceeded to Senapati where he was greeted by a large crowd. The yatra entered Nagaland today evening. Rahul will spend the night at Khuzama Ground.
He will start his Yatra from Viswema Village at 8 am tomorrow morning. He will lay wreath at the famous World War II Cemetery and walk down to Phulbari and address the public from the Yatra bus. He will then proceed to Tseminyu district and Wokha district and spend the night at Chukitong village in Wokha. On January 17 he will resume his Yatra from Chukitong and address the public at VK Town and Mokokchung District. He will have an interaction at Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung and then proceed to Chuchuyimlang village to visit the Gandhi Ashram. He will have another public rally at Changtongya and proceed to Tuli where he will spend the night. He will leave for Amguri in Assam on January 18.
