Manipur CM Biren Singh Hits Back at P Chidambaram, Says He is the Root Cause of Manipur Violence

First Published: 19th November, 2024 18:33 IST

Earlier today, P Chidambaram said that there was a need to acknowledge CM Biren Singh to be the cause of this crisis while demanding that he be removed "immediately."

Hitting back at Congress leader and former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said today that Chidambaram and the Congress are the root cause of the ongoing violence in the state.

P Chidambaram had criticised the Centre for the deployment of 5,000 additional central armed police personnel amid the ongoing tensions and said that Chief Minister Biren Singh is the main reason for the violence in the state and he should be removed.

Replying to Chidambaram, CM N Biren Singh said, “P Chidambaram is a senior Congress leader and I am surprised to see his ‘X’ handle mentioning about the division and alleging the present crisis is due to the CM of Manipur. There are a few problems that we are facing due to the ignorance of the Central leaders during the Congress time… P Chidambaram is the root cause of the present crisis. “

“When he was the Home Minister in the then Congress government and Okram Ibobi Singh was the CM (of Manipur), they brought a Myanmarese foreigner, Thanglianpau Guite… That person was the chairman Zomi Re-Unification Army, which is banned in Myanmar. They never cared about the Northeast and the indigenous people. The present crisis is the problem of the illegal migrants from Myanmar and they try to dominate the indigenous people of Manipur and the entire Northeast. Whatever the problem is there in Manipur is created by Congress. They cannot wash their hands so easily,” he added.
