Manipur: Bodies of 6 Killed in Jiribam Handed Over to Their Families

The bodies which were kept at the Silchar Medical College for autopsy, were taken to Jiribam for the last rites.
The bodies of the 6 victims, 3 women and 3 children, killed in Jiribam district of Manipur by armed miscreants have been handed over to their family members who are part of the Jiribam-based Joint Action Committee by authorities at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital in Assam today.
The bodies which were kept at the Silchar Medical College for autopsy, were taken to Jiribam for the last rites.
It may be mentioned here that 6 individuals – 3 children, one as young as just 10 months old, and 3 women, one a 60-year-old, all from the same family were abducted on November 11 from Jiribam and four days later on November 15 late night, their bodies found – 3 bodies were found floating in the Barak river and three bodies were found stuffed in gunny bags.
Manipur has once again plunged into chaos after violence broke out on November 7 in Jiribam when a woman was shot and then burnt to death in Jiribam’s Zairawn village.
After this, there were firing incidents in Phayeng, Kangchup, Koutruk in Imphal West.
Once again from November 11, Jiribam became the epicentre of violence when armed miscreants set houses and crops on fire and killed two people
Ten armed men were killed when CRPF and Manipur Police retaliated.
The situation escalated on November 16 when the bodies of the 6 abducted children and women were found.
