Manipur: AMHSDA wants doctors’ issues raised in the Assembly

First Published: 27th February, 2023 20:00 IST

AMHSDA general secretary Dr Lolee P Mao wanted to know why their genuine issues were not being raised in the ongoing Assembly Session

The indefinite shutdown announced by government doctors under the banner of AMHSDA that has hit medical services in many government-run hospitals of Manipur is entering its second week. The All Manipur Health Services Doctors Association (AMHSDA), questioned why the government doctors’ issues were not being raised in the ongoing State Assembly Session.

“In Manipur, we have 60 member MLAs, ministers. We have given our representation to every one of them and some ministers they have even recommended. It is genuine to give our demands.”

“More than 90% of them has given us their recommendation and now why are they remaining silent? Now the assembly is going on and why they are remaining silent? That is what we are wondering, the General Secretary of AMHSDA stated.
Dr Lolee P Mao said, “They should voice. They are elected for the people. If they are elected for the people, then why they are keeping quite? I want to say to our ministers and MLAs also to raise their voice.”
The AMHSDA have already registered different forms of agitation trying to push their demand to the state government, prior to the indefinite shutdown.
Dr. Mao, however, acknowledged the suffering of the common people due to the doctors’ strike.
The AMHSDA has launched an indefinite shutdown of government hospitals across the state from 14 February 2023.
