Manipur: Almost 90% peace has come, says CM N Biren Singh

Some elements are there who does not want to restore peace, the Manipur Chief Minister said
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today said that almost 90% peace has been achieved in the state which has witnessed severe violence since May 3. N Biren Singh hopes that total peace would be achieved very soon despite attempts being made persistently to derail peace.
N Biren Singh said so while replying to a query on the present situation after state security forces were reportedly blocked from entering border town Moreh.
The Manipur Chief Minister said, “Forces have already entered. Already India Reserve Battalion (IRB) companies are there, all the personnel have arrived there and performing their duties, commandos are also there. Some elements are there who does not want to restore peace. But generally almost 90% peace has come and I think with the support of the people, masses, peace will be restored soon.”
N Biren Singh also reacted to demands seeking that the government must make arrangements for displaced people to begin a new livelihood through government sponsored schemes. In his response the Chief Minister stated, “Government will provide Rs 10 lakh for destroyed pucca houses and Rs 5 lakh for kutcha houses which have been destroyed. But regarding startups, there are many schemes under the CM Support Scheme like One Family, One Livelihood. Each and every distressed families will be covered under One Family, One Livelihood which can be increased upto Rs 10 lakh. So that will be definitely provided by the government.”
The Manipur Chief Minister was speaking on the sidelines of the 132nd Raising Day of the Manipur Police.
