“I’m Sorry”: Manipur CM N Biren Singh Apologises for Over One-Year-Long Violence in State

Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed hope for the restoration of peace and normalcy in the state in the new year.
In a first, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has apologised to the people of the state for the unrest and violence since May 3, 2023.
In his address to the people of Manipur on New Year’s Eve, Chief Minister N Biren Singh apologised to everyone who had lost their near and dear ones in the ethnic clash.
“The entire year has been very unfortunate. I regret and want to say sorry to the people of the state for what has been happening till today since May 3, 2023. Many people lost their loved ones, many lost their homes. I would like to apologise to all the victims,” said CM N Biren Singh.
The Chief Minister expressed hope for the restoration of peace and normalcy in the state in the new year.
“After seeing the situation in the last 3, 4 months, I hope with the coming of the new year 2025, peace and normalcy will be restored in the state,” CM N Biren Singh added.
He also made a big appeal for peace on New Year’s Eve and urged the people of the state to forgive and forget and make a new start in the new year.
“I want to appeal to all the communities of the state that whatever happened has happened. We have to forgive and forget the past mistakes and we have to start a new life, a peaceful Manipur, a prosperous Manipur. All recognised 34-35 tribes together should live together in the future,” the Chief Minister added.
