Eight cadres from various militant groups of Manipur were arrested and a huge cache of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from their possession after a series of operation conducted by security forces in a span of one week.
The coordinated operations led to the seizure of 43 weapons, including AK-47 rifles, INSAS rifles, Self-Loading Rifles (SLR), carbines, pistols, single-barrel guns, and a locally made improvised mortar (Pompi). Additionally, five Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, and other war-like stores were recovered, dealing a major blow to insurgent activities in the region.
The Indian Army and Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Spear Corps, in close coordination with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP conducted a series of intelligence-based operations across multiple districts of Manipur from 23rd to 29th June. These operations spanned in the hill and valley districts of Jiribam, Bishnupur, Kakching, Tengnoupal, Imphal East and Imphal West.
All apprehended cadres and recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation and legal action.
