1.5 lakh Manipur Youths Affected by Drugs, CM Issues Stern Warning to Illegal Myanmar Immigrants Involved in Drug Trafficking

With at least 1.5 lakh Manipur youth affected by drugs, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has vowed to continue his war on drugs stating that he has a responsibility to protect the country from the scourge of drugs.

CM N Biren Singh emphasized that this crisis is exacerbated by illegal immigration from Myanmar. He pointed out that these immigrants are not only entering India unlawfully but are also contributing to the destruction of local youth through involvement in drug trafficking and related activities.

“As the gatekeeper of our nation’s eastern border, adjacent to the infamous Golden Triangle (Dead Triangle)—one of the world’s most notorious drug trade routes—I have a responsibility to protect our country from the scourge of drugs. With about 1.5 lakh youths affected by drugs in Manipur alone, this battle is more urgent than ever. Illegal immigrants from Myanmar are not only crossing into India unlawfully but are also contributing to the destruction of our youth,” CM N Biren Singh tweeted.

The Chief Minister said that he will continue his fight against drugs and further intensify it under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He urged the nation to wake up and join the Manipur government’s fight against drugs to safeguard the future of Manipur as well as the entire nation.

CM N Biren Singh in another post highlighted the significant strides in combating the drug menace under the War on Drugs Mission.

Sharing information about this, he said that illicit narcotics worth a whopping Rs 60000 crore have been seized so far. A total of 16,161 acres of poppy cultivation has been destroyed. Over 18,000 kg of narcotics have been seized and a total of 2351 cases have been registered.

CM N Biren Singh said that the fight will continue until this threat is eradicated completely.
