Water Crisis Hits Guwahati: JICA’s Repair Work Leaves Residents High and Dry

Residents of large parts of Guwahati are facing a severe water crisis as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) which is handling the water supply to areas like Kharghuli, Hidimbapur, Silpukhuri, , Latasheel, Panbazar, Lachit Nagar, Rajgarh, Japarigog, Tarun Nagar, Geetanagar and others, have stopped supplying water due to urgent repairs of the pipeline since August 29.
As per information received, the repair work was expected to be completed by Sunday, but the supply remains cut off, exacerbating the issue.
Residents are now facing severe water shortages and are voicing their frustration over the delay. The extended disruption has led to widespread public outcry, with many demanding immediate restoration of services.
This situation underscores the ultimate challenge of balancing essential maintenance with the needs of the community.
