Rhino attack leaves two forest workers injured in Kaziranga

Two forest workers have been injured in a rhino attack at the Kaziranga National Park.

Both the forest workers were going to Borkota camp of Western Forest Range when the incident occured. The two forest workers also opened fire for their own safety but the marauding rhino attacked both of them. Both forest workers have been seriously injured in the attack.

The injured forest personnel have been identified as Jayanta Hazarika and Tanuj Bora. The duo were returning to their camp after picking up rations when the attack took place. They have been admitted to Tezpur Medical College for treatment.

One of the injured personnel Jayanta Hazarika, speaking to the media, said that they were attacked in the line of duty.

“The rhino did not attack us in the dark, there was a little bit of light and we could see the rhino coming,” Hazarika added.

It may be mentioned that on February 3 another person was injured by a rhino attack in Bokaghat, near the Kaziranga National Park.
