Chief Minister Sarma said that the 17 Sustainable Development goals have become the part and the parcel of all activites pertaining to management, governance and monitoring.

Besides, the Assam Chief Minister said, “Our govt has decided to increase the forest cover from 36% to 38% in coming 5 years by means of large scale plantation. In kaziranga we had seen poaching cases touching the 50 mark in a year but now we have brought it down to 1 poaching case in last year and this year also.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sarma also opined that the use of digtal platform across all Pillars of Democracy will ultimately help early disposal of cases in the judiciary and would benefit the entire system.

During his address, Chief Minister Himanta Hiswa Sarma also added, “I believe by the end of the decade, technology in courts will ensure that the judicial system is revamped, rationalized towards objective criteria. When India will enter 2030s it will do so with a more robust, transparent & credible system. Further technology will ensure that those who do not have access to justice due to distance will not be excluded anymore.”

Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju was also present in the seminar. Rijiju highlighted that there are also concerns about jobs, economy apart from the environment aspect.

“Development and environment can be increased at same pace if we understand the issue correctly. How do we create employment? Definitely not by destroying the environment, but by sustainable development which India is committed to the Global Forums,” Rijiju said.
