Man sentenced to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment under POCSO Act

The Kamrup Metropolitan district POCSO court has sentenced a 38-year-old man to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl.

The convict, identified as Laben Bhuyan, was sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment under Section 6 of POCSO Act and under Section 376 (AB) of the IPC.

The court, additionally, also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 and if the convict fails to pay the fine within the stipulated time then he will have to serve an additonal imprisonment of 3 months.

The court also directed Bhuyan to pay a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the victim.

It may be mentioned here that Bhuyan had sexually assaulted the minor in January this year.
In recent years the government of Assam has cracked down on POCSO crimes, specially on child marriages.
