Speaking to media on the sidelines of an election campaign, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the importance of the BJP-UPPL coalition in maintaining power in the BTR region, urging everyone to vote for Joyanta Basumatary and help him win.

CM Sarma stated that since the fourth Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) was formed by the BJP-UPPL-GSP alliance, the BTR region has seen winds of peace, development, and progress. Incidents of grenade blasts, shooting, and other kinds of violence have also decreased significantly.

“The BJP-UPPL coalition is not political; it is for the sake of the BTR region, and we must ensure that these improvements are consistent,” said CM Sarma.

Earlier, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the BTR, Pramod Boro said that Basumatary is sure to win by a large margin. He said that BJP national President J.P Nadda’s visit to Kokrajhar strengthened the position of NDA in the region.

He defeated sitting BPF MLA and three-time minister Chandan Brahma by a heavy margin of votes and became an MLA.
