DU ragging victim Anand Sharma returns home after 83 days in hospital

Anand was brutally tortured by senior students of Dibrugarh University in January this year

After 83 days of treatment at Dibrugarh, the Dibrugarh University ragging victim, Anand Sharma left for his Amguri residence today.

After two critical surgeries at Aditya Hospitals, Anand Sharma was undergoing physiotherapy and other treatment staying at Marwari Arogya Bhawan, Dibrugarh.

Anand Sharma was escorted to his home at Amguri by a team of Dibrugarh Police.

The family members of Anand Sharma have expressed their gratitude and offered thanks to Assam Chief Minister, Dr Himamta Biswa for his help, support and initiative.

The family also thanked the Assam Education Minister, Assam Health Minister, Dibrugarh District Administration, Police Department, Dibrugarh University authority, Media fraternity, various organizations and well-wishers for their help and support.

Anand was grievously injured, his spine was damaged, after he was tortured, physically as well as mentally, by some senior students and a former student union leader at a hostel of the university. He had jumped from the two-storied hostel building to escape his torturers. The first semester post-graduate commerce student was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Dibrugarh. The shocker of an incident took place on January 26 this year.
