Dima Hasao Crane Collapse Accident: 5 Injured, No Fatalities

Initial reports suggested that five workers had succumbed to their injuries, but it has now been confirmed that no fatalities occurred

Five workers were critically injured and two others received minor injuries in a crane collpase accident at the Line-2 project of Dalmia Cement in Umrangso, Dima Hasao district, Assam, on Saturday evening.

Initial reports suggested that five workers had succumbed to their injuries, but it has now been confirmed that no fatalities occurred. The critically injured are receiving treatment at Hojai Hamm Hospital.

One person sustained a head injury and is currently admitted to the ICU.

The two workers with minor injuries are admitted at Umrangso Community Health Centre. They have shown improvement and are expected to be discharged soon.

According to reports, over 5,000 workers are engaged at the project site.

Umrangso OC Anjan Boro informed that all the injured worker are being treated and that an investigation into the incident will be initiated soon.

The cause of the accident is still unknown.

Despite repeated efforts, Northeast Live was unable to reach the company authorities to determine what exactly happened at the accident site.

It should be noted that the construction of the Line-2 project has been put on hold.
