Cachar police seize heroin worth 7 crores; woman held

In another successful crackdown on drugs, the Cachar police have seized 1.68 kg of heroin worth Rs 7 crore and apprehended one woman in connection with the seizure in Assam’s Cachar district.
Acting on an intelligence input, the Cachar police on Thursday night conducted a raid at the residence of one Meena Kumari Sharma (36), a widow, and recovered over 100 soap cases stuffed with 1.68 kg of heroin in Laboc Part IV under Lakhipur Sub-Division of Cachar district in Assam.
The police are conducting further search operations to track down places where banned substances could be hidden.
Additional SP Cachar, Subrata Sen, briefing the media, said they are still investigating the matter, but preliminary investigations have revealed that these drugs were brought from a neighbouring state and were meant to be sent to other parts of India.
