Dibrugarh University Students Launch Awareness Campaign against Child Labour

The students held a day-long wall painting session to raise awareness among people and help them to understand the impacts of child labour.

Students at Dibrugarh University are organising a campaign against child labour to raise awareness among the general public about child rights and protection.

The campaign will continue till November 30, 2022.

The awareness campaign is being organised by 3rd semester PR students of MA in Mass Communication, Centre For Studies in Journalism and Mass Communication (CSJMC), Dibrugarh University.

As part of their awareness campaign, they held a day-long wall painting session at Thana Chariali, close to Santipara rail gate in Dibrugarh today.

The day-long wall painting session was held to raise awareness among people and help them to understand the impacts of child labour.

The NGO Bal Sakha’s secretary, Aditya Kumar Chatterjee, was the guest of honour at today’s wall painting event.

A total of 15 students took part in the activity.

Speaking at the event, Aditya Kumar Chatterjee said, “Child labour is a black stain of civil society. We call everyone irrespective of caste, religion, or language to come together to abolish child labour and build a protected and better-civilized society for our future generation.”

Child labour is a kind of crime in which young children are forced to work and do adult-like tasks by engaging in business activities.

Children who are used for labour purposes are deprived of childhood, adequate literacy, mental health, physical health, and social well-being.
