Assam: POCSO court allows voice analysis of Sangeeta Dutta, husband in child abuse case

A further charge sheet related to the case has been submitted by the investigating team.

A Kamrup Metropolitan POCSO court, yesterday, allowed the police to conduct a voice analysis of Dr Sangeeta Dutta and her husband Dr Walilul Islam, in the shocking child abuse case which surfaced in May 2023.

As per reports, the POCSO court permitted the police team probing the case to compare the couple’s voice to the voice samples from the CCTV recordings that were recovered from the couple’s residence.

A further charge sheet related to the case has been submitted by the investigating team. Additionally, the police have presented the results of their forensic testing to the court.

In May last year, a shocking case came to light where doctors Walilul Islam, a surgeon and his wife Sangeeta Dutta, a psychiatrist were accused of keeping minor twin siblings at home and torturing them for several months.

Guwahati Commissioner of Police Diganta Singh said that one of the siblings, a 3-year-old girl had burn and injury marks in her private parts.
