BTR Chief Pramod Boro accused the BPF of doing nothing for development in the Bodo areas during its 17-year regime
Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) chief Pramod Boro today came out all guns blazing against the Bodo People’s Front (BPF) blaming it for poor development in the Bodo heartland during its 17-year regime.
Boro spoke to Northeast Live on the sidelines of mass joining programme of his party UPPL, wherein hundreds of BPF leaders and workers jumped ship.

The BTR Chief hitting out at the Hagrama Mohilary led BPF said, “The way people have come out today and joined our programme, this indicates that they are very much unhappy with the BPF. Because the BPF was in power for 17 years since the formation of BTC, today too the BPF has its MCLAs here, but their relation with the common people is not good now, the BPF did not do anything for development.
For example-out of the 10 Village Council Development Committee (VCDC)s, 7 were set up during the UPPL regime. The BPF had intended to setup 3 of them but those are yet to be activated despite their 17-year rule.
Lot of bridges and roads have been constructed. In the last 3 years, houses for more than 6700 families have been constructed under (PMAY). During the BPF rule, those who who were allotted the houses, there has been only 35% construction since the last 10 years. The money have been swindled and work have stopped. People in BTC are unhappy with whatever the BPF has done. This is the reason why more than 200 BPF supporters are joining the UPPL today. In the days to come more than 500 people from the BPF will joining the UPPL. In present context, the UPPL is in a far better position that the BPF.”
Asked as to why people would chose the UPPL in BTR politics, Pramod Boro said, “35 lakh people in BTR can now enjoy peace, they are now safe and secure, this is why everybody is happy with the UPPL. In the days to come, only politics of UPPL shall prevail, politics of nobody else will be a factor here.”

Sharing details of the recent meeting of the BJP and its allies in Guwahati, Pramod Boro said, “It was positive for everyone. Altogether 5 political parties had participated in the meeting, all the parties who are constituents of the NDA sat together. Our Chief Minister enlightened us with his vision (in the run upto the LS polls). By January there will be more meetings. Only after that it would be decided as to which parties would contest from where. We have a prepared a strategy that day as to how we can ensure the victory of our candidates. On that basis all the parties will work on their respective areas. It is our agenda to make Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister for the 3rd time. We will work to make this a success.”
