Assam: Massive Protests Erupt in Gossaigaon After Suspected Gangrape of 2 Teenage Girls

A large protest rally was organized today in the Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district in response to an incident on the night of August 23rd. Two teenage girls from the tribal community were suspected to have been gang raped after they were abducted by a group of eight miscreants in Tulshibil, in front of their house.
The rally was organized by the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and received support from various student organizations such as the Bodoland Students Union (BSU), All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union, All BTC Bengali Students Federation, and Bajrang Dal. It began at Aminakata High School in Choutara and saw the participation of thousands of men and women. The protestors raised various slogans and demanded justice for the incident, creating a tense atmosphere in the area.
They called for the culprits to be arrested and tried under fast-track law, and also demanded the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the crime.
Speaking to the media, Kripesh Daimary, the ABSU Kokrajhar District President, condemned the incident and demanded that the culprits be arrested and tried under fast-track law. He also stated that student organizations would not tolerate such crimes in the state.
“We strongly condemn the horrific incident where two teenage girls were abducted and suspected to be gang-raped. The culprits must be arrested immediately and tried under fast-track law. Student organizations in the state will not tolerate such heinous crimes,” said Kripesh Daimary, President of ABSU Kokrajhar District.
