Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took note of the peace initiatives of the government and said that BTR is completely peaceful now
The Assam Government today gave away one time financial grant of Rs 2 lakh each to 181 ex-cadres of now disbanded rebel group National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB). Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Pramod Boro, DGP GP Singh, ADGP Special Branch and Special Task Force (STF) Hiren Chandra Nath besides other key dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a post on ‘X’ mentioned that there is absolute peace in the Bodo heartland and the government’s commitment to usher development.
Chief Minister Sarma said, “BTR is completely peaceful now, thanks to the tremendous trust people have in our Hon’ble PM’s policies. A heartfelt welcome to those who’ve chosen the path of peace over violence. The holistic growth of the Bodo community remains our utmost commitment.”
BTR Chief Pramod Boro in a social media post said, “Under the special initiative of Hon’ble CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma dangoriya, Govt of Assam distributed grants of Rs. 2 lakhs each to 181 ex-cadres of National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) to enable them to reintegrate into society.
The visionary leadership of our Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji & Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji has brought an end to the dark decades of violence in BTR. Today, a sustained peace reigns across our region and BTR is steadfastly advancing towards peace and progress.
I also take this opportunity to laud the NLFB’s decision of shunning violence & embracing the path of peace.”
All NLFB cadres had come overground in 2021. The outfit was floated after some disgruntled cadres of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) led by M Batha returned to the jungle following the signing of the third Bodo peace accord.
The Centre and the Assam government had signed the Bodo peace accord in January 2020 with four fractions of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in New Delhi in presence of Union Home minister Amit Shah.
