He also warned that certain groups are attempting to create unrest in the area to derail the power project.
Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro has assured that land demarcation issues surrounding the proposed thermal power project being developed by Adani Power in collaboration with the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) are being actively addressed.
Speaking to the media, Boro specifically mentioned the ongoing concerns over land demarcation in Paglijhora village, located in the Parbhatjhora subdivision of Kokrajhar.
He emphasised that the government is committed to protecting people’s rightful land and will not encroach upon land belonging to local residents.
“In the last 4 years, there has been no demarcation of general public land. APDCL has discussed this project with us, and we are addressing the issues raised. The government will never take land that rightfully belongs to the people,” said Boro.
He also warned that certain groups are attempting to create unrest in the area to derail the power project.
Highlighting the potential of the project, Boro stated that the thermal power plant is expected to generate around 10,000 employment opportunities for local youth, making it a significant step toward regional development.
The clarification comes in the wake of an intense protest that erupted on June 12 in the Tipkai–Paglijhora Part-II area, where residents strongly opposed an eviction drive initiated to facilitate the project. Protesters claimed that the eviction threatened their homes and farmlands, and expressed concerns over displacement.
