Guwahati to Get 11 New 5-Star Hotels Under Advantage Assam 2.0, Says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati’s hospitality space is set to get a major facelift. The city, said to be the gateway to Northeast, will get at least 11 five star hotels over the next 2-3 years.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Bhumi Pujan of a Marriott Resort and Spa near LGBI airport in Guwahati, Chief Minister Sarma said, “Two Taj Hotels will come up in Guwahati Aerocity, a Lemon Tree Hotel will come up on the National Highway. The Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati is expanding and adding 100 more rooms. A Taj Hotel is coming in place of the Vivanta in Khanapara and 4 more Marriott Hotels are coming up in Guwahati”.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa also noted that destination weddings was becoming a popular concept and these hotels will help people plan better.
Speaking about the Marriott Resort and Spa for which the groundbreaking ceremony took place today, the CM said, “It will be developed by Jonali Construction Private Ltd. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Assam government during the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit. The resort, set to be constructed on 76 bighas of land, is expected to be completed within three years and will generate employment for over 500 youths, significantly boosting the local economy”.
CM Sarma said that almost all investment proposals announced during Advantage Assam 2.0 is becoming a reality.
