Guwahati Shocker: 75-year-old Woman Who Was Living Alone, Killed in Cold Blood

A shocking case of cold-blooded murder has come to light from Guwahati. An elderly woman, aged around 75-years-old, named Sayera Sultana, was brutally murdered at her residence in the city’s Panjabari area.

The body of the deceased, soaked in blood, was recovered on a sand and gravel dump behind the house. As per inputs, the deceased who was a retired teacher and was unmarried, had been living alone in the house for a long time.

Police have recovered the sharp weapon used in the crime from the courtyard of the house. Police also found blood stains inside the house. Forensic teams visited the crime scene and collected samples. Dispur Police got a call on Monday informing that that an elderly woman had gone missing and today at around 11:30 in the morning, a police team reached her house and recovered the body.

Police have arrested one identified as Qazi Mohammad Abdul Aziz, who hails from Lala in Hailakandi, in connection with the case. Qazi Mohammad Abdul Aziz was staying in a mosque in Guwahati as a priest. He was arrested from Palashbari.

Meanwhile, CCTV footage has emerged showing the arrested accused Mohammad Aziz passing by the victim’s house on a bicycle on Monday. Locals have also reportedly said that they saw the accused exiting the woman’s house the same day.
Investigation is on and police is trying to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
