Highlighting the Bodoland CEM Cup, the Prime Minister said the tournament is not just about football, but a celebration of unity
In his Mann Ki Baat address on June 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi painted a vibrant picture of Assam’s Bodoland region, where football has become a symbol of unity, hope, and change.
PM Modi said, “Imagine a morning where sunlight touches the hills and slowly reaches the plains. With that light, football lovers gather. A whistle blows, and the ground fills with cheers. With every pass and every goal, the excitement grows. This is not a dream, this is the reality of Bodoland today.”
Highlighting the Bodoland CEM Cup, the Prime Minister said the tournament is not just about football, but a celebration of unity. “More than 3,700 teams and around 70,000 players, including a large number of girls, are participating. These numbers show a big change happening in Bodoland,” he added.
He recalled how Bodoland was once known for conflict, but today, the youth are chasing new dreams with confidence and courage. “From limited opportunities to national recognition, the journey of players like Halicharan Narzary, Durga Boro, Apurba Narzary, and Manbir Basumatari shows the true spirit of change,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister also praised those who rose despite challenges and inspired many across India. He said, “If we want to grow stronger, we must first focus on fitness and health.”
With this inspiring message, PM Modi not only appreciated the sporting spirit of Bodoland but also encouraged the entire nation to look at sports as a powerful force of transformation.
