AICC secretary Prithviraj Sathe said that the people in the Bodo heartland are seeking a change.

The Congress will contest in all the 40 seats in the upcoming BTC elections.

AICC secretary Prithviraj Sathe after holding a meeting with party workers in Kokrajhar said that his party is fully prepared to fight the council elections.

The Congress leader added that the people in the Bodo heartland are seeking a change.

The Assam BJP has decided to go solo in the BTR polls. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma earlier said that the party will only contest those seats where the party has a high likelihood of winning.

CM Sarma also said that even though the BJP will go solo, it will support UPPL in all seats it will not contest.

Meanwhile, the Gana Suraksha Party (GSP), led by former MP Naba Kumar Sarania will contest in alliance with the Hagrama Mohilary-led Bodoland People’s Front (BPF).

The election to the 40-member council is expected to be an interesting battle since the BJP and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) leadership have already given substantial indications that both parties will contest the elections solo.

Earlier, Hagrama Mohilary firmly stated that BPF would secure an absolute majority, expecting to win more than 20 seats.
