The Assam CM said, “We will add the 2% more DA along with the salary before the Rongali Bihu

In a festive gesture ahead of Rongali Bihu, the Assam government has announced a 2% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for state government employees and pensioners.

Briefing media after the Cabinet meeting today, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the revised DA will be implemented with retrospective effect from January 1, 2025.

With this revision, the DA increases from 53% to 55%, aligning Assam’s government employees and pensioners with their central government counterparts.

Announcing the decision after today’s cabinet meeting, CM Sarma said, “We will add the 2% more DA along with the salary before the Rongali Bihu and arrears will be given in April and May month.”

This hike follows a 3% DA increase announced in October 2024, which came into effect from July 2024.

The development comes after the recent Union Cabinet decision, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which approved a similar 2% DA/DR hike for central employees and pensioners to help mitigate the impact of inflation.
