Over 114 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 1.89 lakh crore were signed on the first day, and Rs 9,785 crore on day 2.
The Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit has set a new benchmark for economic growth in the state. Over 114 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 1.89 lakh crore were signed on the first day alone, with additional agreements worth Rs 9,785 crore signed on the second day.
These investments, covering diverse sectors, will drive industrial expansion, infrastructure development, and employment generation in Assam.
Day 2 MoUs: Rs 9,785 Crore in Investments
The second day of the summit saw major agreements signed in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, further boosting Assam’s business potential.
Some of the key MoUs signed include:
Star Cement – Rs 3,200 crore for expanding production capacity.
Matheson Hydrogen Pvt. Ltd. – Rs 1,500 crore for a 95KTPA hydrogen and steam generation plant, supporting clean energy initiatives.
Global Health Ltd. (Medanta) – Rs 500 crore for constructing a multi-specialty hospital, enhancing healthcare facilities in the state.
Tamara Leisure Experiences Pvt. Ltd. – Rs 275 crore for a 5-star eco-resort in Kaziranga, boosting tourism and hospitality.
Varun Beverages – Rs 510 crore to establish a soft drink and juice manufacturing unit, strengthening the FMCG sector.
Virinchi Ltd. – Rs 3,000 crore for setting up a 200 MW data centre, supporting Assam’s digital infrastructure.
Virinchi Healthcare – Rs 200 crore for a 500-bed super-speciality hospital, improving medical services.
UltraTech Cement – Rs 700 crore for expansion in the construction materials sector.
Simba Logistics – Rs 400 crore to enhance logistics and supply chain operations.
These agreements signal Assam’s growing prominence as an investment-friendly destination, with a strong focus on manufacturing, healthcare, energy, and digital infrastructure.
Day 1 MoUs: Rs 1.89 Lakh Crore in Investments
The first day of Advantage Assam 2.0 witnessed large-scale investments across energy, gas distribution, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors. Some of the biggest MoUs signed included:
Essar Group – Rs 2,100 Cr for a renewable energy project
Vedanta Group – Rs 50,000 Cr for oil & gas exploration, surveillance infrastructure, and sports investments
Adani Total Gas Ltd. – Rs 5,000 Cr for city gas distribution, EV charging, biomass, LNG for trucks & mining
Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. – Rs 10,711 Cr for a sulphur plant, multimodal terminal, rail-fed terminal, LPG bottling, aviation fuel, and green hydrogen initiatives
Greenko Energies Pvt. Ltd. – Rs 5,850 Cr for a 900 MW pumped storage project
Oil India Ltd. – Rs 23,300 Cr for exploration, production, and CNG & PNG supply
Welspun World – Rs 350 Cr for high-quality pipe and water storage tank manufacturing
Tata Power Company Ltd. – Rs 30,000 Cr for 5,000 MW renewable energy projects
Indradhanush Gas Grid Ltd. – Rs 1,200 Cr for the 186-km Duliajan Feeder Line
Lilavati Foundation LLP – Rs 150 Cr for a multi-specialty tertiary care hospital
Bio Friends – Rs 260 Cr for a new DME plant in Namrup, Dibrugarh
In addition to these investments, four international non-financial MoUs were signed, reflecting global interest in Assam’s economic potential. Major Indian corporations, including Adani Group, Tata Power, and JSW Energy, alongside public sector enterprises like Oil India Ltd. (OIL), ONGC, and Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL), pledged significant investments in the state. With a focus on green energy, digital expansion, manufacturing, and healthcare, these MoUs will accelerate Assam’s industrialisation, job creation, and sustainable growth.
As the summit progresses, the total investment commitments are expected to surpass current figures, solidifying Assam’s reputation as a premier business and investment destination in India.
