Chapo also urged the public to treat workers and labourers with dignity and compassion.

A massive solidarity foot march was held in Itanagar on Thursday, demanding justice for 22-year-old Prabash Doley, a youth from Jonai in Assam’s Dhemaji district, who was brutally murdered at Chimpu on June 17.

The peaceful rally was organised by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Arunachal Pradesh, and was supported by major workers’ unions including the All Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers’ Union, the All Arunachal Pradesh Power Department Workers’ Union, and the All Arunachal Pradesh Bharatiya Private Transport Mazdoor Mahasangh.

The march began at 10 AM from Ganga near Akashdeep and concluded at IG Park, drawing large participation from workers, social activists, students, and civil society members who raised slogans demanding justice, safety, and respect for workers.

Addressing the media, BMS Arunachal President Ringu Chapo condemned the brutal murder in the strongest terms and put forward two key demands, a transparent and time-bound investigation into the murder case, and justice and compensation for the bereaved family of the deceased.

Chapo also urged the public to treat workers and labourers with dignity and compassion, stressing that no one should be harassed over minor misunderstandings or issues.

“Today’s march is a strong message from the working class. We are united in demanding accountability, justice for Prabash Doley, and safety for all labourers working in Arunachal and across the region,” said Chapo.
