FIFA grants Field Status to Arunachal stadium

The status comes ahead of the final round of the Santosh Trophy football tournament 2023-24 that Arunachal Pradesh would be hosting
In some good news for Arunachal Pradesh and the game of football in northeast, world football’s governing body FIFA has granted Field Status to the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh. The stadium was kept in the category of Superb 52-13 PU.
The news was announced by Arunachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Taking to his official X handle, Khandu wrote, “I’m so pleased to share that @FIFAcom has granted Field Certificate to Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium at Yupia in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh. The stadium has been kept in the category of Superb 52-13 PU. Congratulations to all stakeholders engaged in making foolproof preparations for the final round of #SantoshTrophy matches to be held in the State. I’m confident the mega football event will be a grand success.”
FIFA grants Field Status to stadiums which they consider to be of the required quality to host football matches organized by FIFA.
It may be mentioned that Arunachal will host the final round of the Santosh Trophy football tournament 2023-24. It will become the first state from the Northeast to host the final round of the tournament.
