Locals cried foul over alleged delay of fire department in reaching the spot. Situation turned from bad to worse due to this, alleged locals.

Hundreds of shops went up in flames in a massive fire which broke out at Naharlagun Daily market early in the morning today. Properties worth several hundreds of lakhs were reduced to ashes.

Vendors and locals alleged that the fire department reached the spot way after the fire had engulfed the entire market.

They also added they had called the fired department when the first shop had caught fire. Soon, the blazing inferno spread in a massive manner engulfing hundreds of other shops.

Left helpless by the severe situation, locals as well as shopkeepers took it upon themselves to bring the fire under control. However, such efforts were not enough to dowse the fire.
