The organisation has requested individuals have got these documents illegally to willingly surrender their ST and permanent residence certificates.

The Arunachal Pradesh Schedule Tribe Welfare Society on Tuesday said that it would investigate the issue of ‘illegal’ ST and PRC documents being issued to non-Arunachal ST people of the state.

Expressing concern about such fake documents being issued to people who are not STs from Arunachal, president of the Society, Lokam Talo said that issuing such fake certificates puts the fate of the ST population from the state at stake.

Addressing a press conference in Itanagar today, Talo said “children of non-Arunachal tribal men were found to have acquired Arunachal Pradesh ST (APST) certificates using questionable methods. These fake documents are being used to get jobs. This is hampering the future of the genuine STs of the state”.

The organisation has requested that individuals involved in such illegal actions willingly surrender their ST and permanent residence certificates (PRCs).

Talo said that the Society is planing to conduct an investigation in each district and circle to address these concerns.

Talo stated that Arunachal Pradesh has become digitally strong and no people with illegal documents would be spared.

Talo further urged the tribal women married to non-tribals not to acquire the benefits that has been given for the APST people instead asked them to get the benefits of the non-APST.
