Arunachal: NGO installs book shelves in bus stop

Arunachal: Garun Thuk, has set an example for many by installing book shelves in a bus stop. Objective to promote reading culture.

In a first of its kind, an NGO in Arunachal Pradesh has come up with an unique way of ecouraging reading culture.

The NGO Garun Thuk, has set an example for many by installing book shelves in a bus stop at Shergaon in West Kameng district.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Le Khandu Thungon, office Secretary and Library in-charge of Garung Thuk, said the objective of keeping books in the bus stop is to accelerate education and encourage students including everyone waiting for their vehicles to engage them in books.

Meanwhile, locals have lauded the idea of Garun Thuk and termed it as a noble initiative and feel that the move is reviving the book culture among the people.

The people feel that digitalization cannot replace the book culture, although it is a digital age today.
