Arunachal Man Arrested for Sexually Assaulting House Help

A 33-year-old man from Arunachal Pradesh’s Itanagar has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and threatening his 20-year-old domestic help for quite some time.
The accused has been identified as Akom Yomto Dango (33), a resident of IG Park area, Itanagar. He originally hails from Laigi village, under Dumporijo Police Station in Upper Subansiri district.
The incident came to light after a Zero FIR was registered on June 13, 2025, by the Officer-in-Charge of Bordumsa Police Station, based on a complaint submitted by the survivor. The woman had been working as a domestic help for the past two years at Dango’s residence.
In her complaint, the victim alleged that Akom Yomto Dango repeatedly subjected her to sexual harassment and rape over an extended period, ignoring her resistance and desperate pleas to stop.
The abuse, she claimed, was sustained through threats, intimidation, and coercion to silence her.
On the night of May 29, she was allegedly assaulted once again and then forcibly ousted from the residence and sent back to her village in a state of deep trauma and distress.
The Zero FIR was swiftly transferred and converted into a regular case at the Women Police Station, Itanagar, where a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 64(F), 75, 76, and 3(5).
The victim’s statement has been recorded, and she is currently being provided with legal aid and psychological support through Ane’s Home under the care of the Women Police Station, Itanagar.
