Arunachal: Forest fire spreads towards Rama Camp village, alert issued

The fire has spread over a radius of 6 to 7 kilometers and could not be doused completely
A massive forest fire which broke out near Thembang, under Dirang sub-division on Saturday, has started slowly spreading towards Rama Camp and the southern parts of the village. Authorities of West Kameng district has issued an alert regarding the matter.
Officer in-charge of Dirang police station, Inspector Thumgon Tali informed that the wildfire was brought under control at Thembang. However the fire has spread over a radius of 6 to 7 kilometers and despite the best efforts of the fire fighters the inferno could not be doused completely. Three fire tenders are kept ready at Thembang.
The officer in-charge has alerted nearby villagers to be vigilant.
He added that although the fire was brought under control on Saturday, on Sunday morning the fire reignited and approached Thembang.
Police personnel, along with Jawans and officers of SSB, and villagers are engaged in dousing the fire.
No loss of life or property has been reported so far.
