The National People’s Party (NPP) is gearing up for the Assembly elections to be held in Arunachal Pradesh early next year. The party today announced the name of teacher-policy maker-turned-politician and first timer Talem Jamoh as its candidate from the Pangin-Boleng (ST) assembly constituency.

Jamoh’s candidature was announced at an event held at Rasing, his native village, in the presence of his well-wishers, relatives and village people who blessed him and wished him good luck for the upcoming assembly election.

From NPP party, State Secretary and In-charge Siang, East Siang and Upper Siang, Tamo Taggu, NPP District President, Taking Pazing and District Youth President, Anu Tali were present at the event.

Speaking about his priorities for the state, after his candidature was announced, Jamoh said that all round development of his constituency and optimal utilisation of funds to achieve this tops his agenda.
“I am committing it on record before your media that, if I am elected, I won’t compromise in the developmental works of my constituency,” Talem Jamoh said speaking to media in Rasing.

Talem Jamoh began his professional journey in 1985 as an Assistant Teacher and then retired in 2021 as the Deputy Director School Education, Siang district.

NPP hopes to benefit from Jamoh’s popularity among the people of his constituency for his straight forwardness, helping nature and clean image. Jamoh has been vocal against the proposed plans of the government to construct a large barrage on the Siang River to ‘save’ it from potential hazards posed by a mega Chinese dam being built in the Tibet region bordering Arunachal Pradesh.

When asked as to how he would pursue the matter if he is elected, Jamoh said, “An amicable solution is required by sitting together on a negotiation table by both public and the government, but no forceful implementation will succeed until public cooperation is there.”

Jamoh is likely to be pitted against sitting BJP MLA Ojing Tasing and former Arunachal education minister and Congress leader Tapang Taloh.
