APPSC paper leak fiasco: PAJSC’s mega rally in Itanagar demanding fulfilment of demands

First Published: 30th November, 2023 12:50 IST

This is the PAJSC's 5th such rally so far wherein PAJSC members, mostly APPSC aspirants, have openly come out seeking for a solution to the APPSC paper leak fiasco.

Unhappy with the Government’s response on resolving the APPSC paper leak case, the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) today yet again took to the streets and protest against the alleged delay in fulfilment of their demands.

This is the PAJSC’s 5th such rally so far wherein PAJSC members, mostly APPSC aspirants, have openly come out seeking a solution to the APPSC paper leak fiasco.

Today’s rally is based on two points – first, non-fulfilment of their demands and second, the government’s alleged failure in responding to the PAJSC’s demand for a round table discussion with Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

The PAJSC had set November 30 as the deadline for the government to hold the round table discussion. However, the PAJSC alleged that it has failed to receive a response on this from the government for which the decision to hit the streets was taken.

More than a year has passed by since the PAJSC began its stir seeking reforms in the APPSC after the paper leak row, but according to the pressure group claims that nothing significant has prevailed so far.

But this ongoing situation, where the state government seems to be under pressure owing to various groups seeking ‘justice’ into the paper leak case, is likely to have far reaching implications if it continues for too long.

It will not only be the students who would suffer as they are already facing a bleak future, but also the government, as it will not be able to give an optimum performance in terms of governance, in absence of officers selected through the APPSC. Hence, development will take a hit for sure.

One of the PAJSC members taking part in today’s rally spoke to Northeast Live and said, “Our movement has been going for more than a year. We had placed a charter of demands before the government, which was originally the 13-point charter of demands, but due to some narratives, there seemed to be a division in the society. For the greater cause of the people and interest of the case, we submitted a 12-point charter of demands by prioritizing out of the total 13 and submitted a representation to the CM on November 21. In the representation we said that there is no conflict regarding the 12-points and urged him to address those points. We mentioned that it is the right time and urged him to call for a Round Table discussion for the greater cause of the state. We had given time till November 30th, but the government has not reciprocated so far. So we are taking out this mega rally today.”

I being a bonafide citizen of the state and I being one of the primary deprived candidate of the entire fiasco that has been happening in the APPSC for many years, I obviously feel sad that the issue which is of greater interest for the state as well as aspirants, the government is trying to overlook the matter. But the resolve with which we are standing for this issue, we have a sense of committment, we know the gravity of the issue and we hope that the issue will stand resolved one day.”

On August 29 2022, Gyamar Padang, an aspirant of the Assistant Engineer of AE civil examination, lodged an FIR at the Itanagar police station, complaining that the question papers for the APPSC were reportedly leaked. The case was initially investigated by the Itanagar police and later transferred to the special investigation cell (SIC) of the Arunachal Pradesh police.

The CBI took over the investigation on the recommendation of the state government on October 26, 2022.
