Starting from the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan area, the procession traversed through the state capital’s streets with participants chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram.’
Secretary of Vivekananda Bichar Mancha, Tapan Das, emphasized on the significance of the event, stating that the inauguration of the temple marks a historic moment.
Das further emphasized the role of Sanatan Dharma in establishing global peace and prosperity, especially during this times of global conflicts.
The celebration featured a tableau of Ram Leela, enacting the life of God Shri Ram, with participants portraying the roles of Ram, Sita, Laxman and Hanuman.
Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik and other dignitaries were present at the event.
The under-construction Ram temple in Ayodhya has been at the centre of a political tug-of-war. The structure is being built at the site of the now demolished Babri Masjid. In 2019 a Supreme Court ruling allowed for the construction of a Ram temple at the site while land was given to build a mosque somewhere else. The construction of the temple is being supervised by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
