Meetei Council writes to PM, seeks rehabilitation of displaced people from Moreh

The Meetei Council, Moreh, Manipur has written to PM Narendra Modi seeking his intervention to settle and rehabilitate people who have been allegedly driven out of Moreh.

In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Meetei Council, Moreh emphasised on the imperative need to restore a harmonious and peaceful co-existence among the various communities.
“The Meetei Council, Moreh, Manipur, would like to draw your kind attention to the situation of Moreh town in the lndo-Myanmar border for your kind intervention and necessary action,” the council wrote in the memorandum.

It also called for the restoration of Moreh town to its pre-1991 status.

The Meetei Council Moreh, in its memorandum, further appealed for identification and deportation of illegal immigrants.

The memorandum stated, “ We seek the intervention of the Honourable Prime Minister for Government of India and Government of Manipur to ensure the restoration of the multicultural town of Moreh to the pre-1991 status. We request to direct the concerned authorities to take up appropriate measures for the return and rehabilitation of all those who had been driven out of Moreh since 1991. Also, we request for the identification and deportation of all illegal migrants.”
