CM Biren Singh said that Rahul’s visit will not make any difference since the Congress has no support in the state.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh today dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s plans to start his Bharat Nyay Yatra from Manipur as insignificant.

CM N Biren said that Rahul’s visit will not make any difference to the state as the Congress has no support in the state.

It may be mentioned that the Congress leader and the Wayanad MP would embark on a 6,200 kilometres yatra across 14 states and 85 districts from January 14. The Yatra will be flagged off by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge in Imphal and will end in Mumbai.

Earlier, taking a jibe at Rahul and his plans for the Yatra, BJP National Spokesperson Nalin Kohli said that the Congress and Rahul Gandhi are entitled to come out with political programmes like Bharat Jodo Yatra, but the people have rejected that idea.

He further said that Rahul Gandhi and the Congress cannot have duplicity in their approach by coining some slogans thinking that the people of India will be fooled.

Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra will pass through the states of Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and finally Maharashtra.

The Yatra comes just ahead of Lok Sabha elections in 2024 and the timing of the Yatra will coincide with the time when campaigning is set to be at its peak.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra that started in Kanyakumari on September 7, 2022 and concluded on January 30 this year in Srinagar after covering 3,970 km across 12 states and two union territories was seen as a major outreach programme of the Congress energising its cadres in the southern states.
