JSM’s proposed rally on Dec 25 may disrupt peace in Tripura: Minister Sukla Charan Noatia

The ongoing controversy arising out of Janajati Suraksh Manch’s demand for delisting of tribal individuals who have converted to other religions, from the Schedule Tribe (ST) category in Tripura has been escalating day by day.
In a first since the controversy broke out, a minister in the Manik Saha Cabinet has spoken out on the issue.
Reacting to the JSM’s proposed call to hold a rally on Christmas Day in Agartala to press for its demands, Tripura Tribal Welfare (Primitive Tribal Groups) and Minority Minister, Sukla Charan Noatia has expressed concern about possible communal violence in the state.
He voiced apprehension that such acts may disrupt peace.
Minister Noatia said, “Neither the BJP has ever made any demand or the Tripura government issued any notification regarding the delisting of converted STs.”
He accused certain organizations of raising the issue solely to disturb the peace in the state.
Noatia, the lone The Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) MLA in the state, however, expressed confidence that Chief Minister Manik Saha will address the matter and ensure that there is no disturbance to peace in Tripura.
