Assam: ULFA-I claims responsibility for blast near Army Camp in Jorhat

Banned militant outfit-United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast that occured near Army camp in Assam’s Jorhat district on Thursday night.

In a statement issued this morning, ULFA-I confirmed that the attack was carried out by the outfit. However, its intension was not to scare the common people or target the Assam Police.

“The Assam-India conflict is a political issue and will only end politically,” the banned militant outfit said in a statement.

An explosion occured near the Army’s 41 Sub Area unit at Lisubari in Jorhat at around 7. 21 pm on Thursday. However, no injuries have been reported so far.

As per sources, the explosive was placed inside the dustbin.

Tinsukia, Sivasagar and now Jorhat, Eastern Assam has been rocked by as many as 3 explosions in two months.

On November 22, a grenade explosion took place outside the gate of the Army camp at Dirak in Tinsukia.

Another explosion took place on December 9 at Joysagar in Sivasagar in front of a CRPF camp.
