Tripura: 2 cadres of NLFT-BM arrested

In a major breakthrough in the fight against insurgency, Tripura Police have arrested two top leaders of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), Biswa Mohan (BM) faction.

The duo was arrested from Simna village adjoining the India-Bangladesh international border in West Tripura district on Thursday evening.

The arrested individuals have been identified as–Sachin Debbarma, self-styled army chief, and Utpal Debbarma, secretary-general of NLFT-BM.

As per inputs, the duo were arrested after they illegally entered Indian territory from Bangladesh.

The arrested cadres have been brought to Agartala for interrogation and are scheduled to produce before a judicial magistrate’s court today.

This development marks Tripura Police’s success in apprehending or facilitating the surrender of over 24 NLFT(BM) leaders and cadres in the past year and a half.
