SC resumes hearings on Section 6A of Citizenship Act challenges

To examine the constitutional validity of this section of the law, the court has decided to hear 17 petitions together

The Supreme Court bench comprising of Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, Justice Surya Kant, Justice MM Sundaresh, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra resumed hearing on the case of the Citizenship Amendment Act. The bench is hearing the case in the Supreme Court on the third and last day of the week today. This bench of the apex court is hearing the constitutionality of Section 6A of the Citizenship Act 1995 related to illegal immigrants in Assam. To examine the constitutional validity of this section of the law, the court has decided to hear 17 petitions together.
