CM PS Tamang held a crucial meeting with SKM leaders and representatives from the Limboo-Tamang community to discuss the issue
Ahead of the Sikkim Assembly polls scheduled to be held early next year, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has assured the Limboo-Tamang community of the state that seats would be reserved for the community in the state Assembly.
The CM convened a crucial meeting at his official residence, Mintokgang, to discuss with the executive members from various associations regarding the status of the Limboo-Tamang seat reservation in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly.
In attendance were representatives from the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) party-level committee for Limboo-Tamang seat reservation, Sikkim Tamang Buddhist Association, and Sikkim Yakthung Sapsok Songjhumbo. The gathering also included RB Subba, former Minister, along with Chairpersons and Advisors from the Limboo-Tamang community.
Earlier, on November 18, the Limboo Tamang Voluntary Committee(LTVC) decided to boycott the SKM government.
Worth mentioning here that various groups and organisations representing both communities have been pushing for 6 separate Limboo Tamang tribal seats in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly.
On September 22, 2018, Law Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha presented a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the PM’s visit to Sikkim requesting him to look into the matter.
