"No man is guilty until proven otherwise. Use it, throw that ball around, I am not afraid because I am doing greater things," said Lyngodh
Meghalaya Health Minister and National Peoples’ Party (NPP)’s Lok Sabha candidate from Shillong seat, Ampareen Lyngdoh today said that political parties should not take advantage of the CBI case against her in the infamous education scam since the case is still subjudice. She said that she is confident that the truth will emerge as it is and she will come out clean.
Speaking to media, Minister Lyngdoh said, ” The case is being heard in the court. I have never at any point of time been convicted. Let no political party take advantage of this and make it look like I have been convicted. The truth will reign supreme, and I stand by that, I am confident that the truth will emerge as it is.”
Lyngdoh cautioned that there will be repercussions if political parties used the case against her as a means of disparaging her.
“No man is guilty until proven otherwise. Use it, throw that ball around, I am not afraid because I am doing greater things. When I go to court, I know what is being discussed than the man on the street or the politician,” she added.
In 2017, the High Court ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over of the Meghalaya police’s investigation into allegations of alleged manipulation, falsifying test results, and intervening in the appointment of assistant teachers for lower primary schools in 2008–2009.
Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh is allegedly instructed J.D. Sangma, the then director of elementary and mass education, and two of her supporters, to alter and fabricate the score sheets by adding whitener to alter the candidates’ scores.
